Can Invisalign® Treat Both Baby and Permanent Teeth?

Invisalign® Treatment for Baby and Permanent Teeth in Miami, FL

Invisalign® offers a clear alternative to braces. It adjusts your bite to get all of your teeth in the proper alignment. While it has always been successful on adults and teenagers, there is an alternative for younger children (who still have their baby teeth).

Children from six to ten years old can now use Invisalign® first clear aligners. These are great at preventing problems that could occur if we wait to deal with the permanent teeth. It provides a good foundation for permanent teeth so that they are more likely to come in correctly.

What Is Invisalign®?

Invisalign® is a clear dental aligner with the same result as braces, but quicker, more discrete, and more comfortable. They fit over your teeth and they're clear so nobody even knows you're wearing them.

What Are the Cons of Invisalign®?

The most common reason that people don't use Invisalign® is the cost. However, with insurance and payment plans they are often quite affordable for most people. Another aspect of Invisalign® aligners that is significant to note is that these aligners can't fix every problem. Some children and adults need to have braces in order to fix the alignment issues in their mouths.

What Are the Pros of Invisalign®?

There are a number of benefits when opting for Invisalign®, including:

No restrictions on the food that you can eat. If you want to eat corn on the cob, you can just remove your aligners and put them back in when you are done.

Better for your oral health. It can be hard for many to keep their teeth clean when they have braces. However, with Invisalign®, you can just remove your aligners, so that you can brush and floss as normal. Your teeth will stay healthy, even while getting the treatment necessary.

More comfortable than braces. Many don't like braces because they are quite uncomfortable. The wires and braces can cut your lips, gums, and tongue, making them quite painful at times. You don't have this at all with clear aligners.

Nobody knows that you are wearing them. Most people (especially young children and teenagers) don't want everyone to know that they are being treated. Having braces was just another reason to get picked on.

Cleaning your Invisalign trays is an important process to maintain the products effectiveness You can purchase a product from Invisalign's website, which are crystals placed in water to clear your aligners. Remember, your aligners should be in your mouth for approximately 22 hours a day, meaning that you will not be placing your Invisalign aligners in any solution overnight.

Clear aligner therapy, such as Invisalign, can vary from patient to patient as far as the length of time of use. The average patient who needs a full case of clear aligner therapy, such as Invisalign, will take approximately one year in treatment. Sometimes treatment can go up to two years or more depending on the severity of the case. My patients typically wear their aligners for 10 days each and most cases around 25 to 30 aligners. So this means that the patient would be wearing their trays for approximately 300 days or less than a year. This is great for clear aligner therapy because it is typically shorter than traditional braces in many cases.

Invisalign is a method of straightening your teeth or correcting your bite. Invisalign is a trademark of clear aligners that move your teeth. Clear aligner therapy, such as Invisalign, is a tray that is placed in your mouth for a minimum of 22 hours a day. These trays are custom made for your teeth. Every 10 days or so, you will change the tray to the next tray in your series. This next tray will be slightly different than the last one, pushing your teeth into the position to adapt to that tray. Over time, the teeth will begin to move, aligning them. Invisalign is another form of braces. Braces are metal wires that are placed on your teeth, whereas Invisalign is clear. Invisalign is typically so clear that it can not be seen from a distance. Invisalign is a way of changing the form of your teeth. It does not change the shape or color of your teeth but just the alignment of your teeth. Are you looking to work with an experienced dental implants doctor?
