Our Miami same day dentistry services include options like flippers, temporary teeth, and same day tooth replacement if you have a broken or knocked-out tooth.

Signs You Are Experiencing a Dental Emergency

It can be tough to identify whether or not you are experiencing a dental emergency. Below are some hallmark signs that the symptoms you are experiencing is not something that can wait, but something that needs to be seen by a professional at Implant Center of Miami as soon as possible:

Bleeding. If you are bleeding and it does not seem to stop, you should see a professional as soon as possible. That is not normal!

Swelling. Swelling should go down within an hour with the help of ice and over-the-counter medications. If it does not, speak with a professional about same-day dental services.

Pain. Some pain and soreness is normal but if you are in excruciating, unbearable pain, something is wrong.

Abscess. An abscess is typically a sign of infection that must be seen before it spreads.

Our Process

At Implant Center of Miami, we make sure to prioritize emergency cases. We never want our patients to be experiencing excruciating pain, bleeding, etc. That is why when you call our office, we make sure to prioritize patients based on the unique situation at hand. While we do have normal, scheduled appointments for patients needing routine exams and general/cosmetic dental services, we make sure to block out time for those experiencing emergencies so that they can be seen and assessed as soon as possible. If you are experiencing a dental emergency and are seeking same day services, you can trust the professionals at Implant Center of Miami to be there for you.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • I have a toothache. Why do I have this pain?

If you are experiencing a toothache that is keeping you awake in the middle of the night, or making it hard for you to go about your normal day, it is a good idea to get it checked out by the dentist right away. The tooth could be infected, have trauma, be erupted or need to be extracted. Do not wait to call as waiting can potentially make your problems worse and oftentimes produce a very painful dental abscess. You really never know what the source of your toothache is until you visit the dentist for a proper diagnosis.

  • How can I reduce the pain before going to the dentist?

One way to reduce the pain and swelling before heading to our office is to apply cold to the area using an icepack or a compress. Once you arrive, we will work as fast as possible to eliminate any discomfort you may be feeling. Oftentimes a patient enters our office in pain and leaves pain-free. This is our ideal outcome and we strive to make it happen every single time. Don’t be afraid to come to see us.  We are here to help!

  • What do I do if my tooth was knocked out or fell out?

If a tooth has been knocked out or has simply fallen out, try to find the tooth. If you can find it, rinse it in warm water and if place it in a glass of milk. Although fairly rare, it is possible that Dr. Herzog will be able to save your tooth. If she can't save the tooth, the next options would be discussing a dental implant, a bridge, or a denture. Sometimes when a tooth is knocked out, root tips or pieces of the tooth still remain. It is important that they are removed from the patient's mouth quickly by a dentist during an emergency visit.

  • I have a broken tooth. How can you fix it?

Most people who have a broken tooth got it in one of three ways: a sports injury, a car accident, or a fight. Chances are you are dealing with a chipped tooth or a cracked tooth which can normally be saved. The most common method for fixing chipped or cracked teeth is a crown or veneer as both can restore full functionality to the tooth.  During your visit, we can help you understand your options and we can even make a new crown or veneer in the same day with our state-of-the-art technology. If you live anywhere in the Miami area and need an emergency dentist, we are here to help you.

  • I have an infected tooth. What can you do?

Having an infected tooth is another very common reason that people need to see the dentist urgently. Some complaints of tooth pain are actually caused by an infection. During your visit, we will conduct an examination, take x-rays and check for sensitivity to hot and cold. Dr. Herzog will provide the best course of treatment that is available to eliminate the chance of the infection getting worse or turning into a dental abscess.

  • How much does an emergency dentist cost?

The average dentist will charge between $75 to $250 for an emergency visit. This will include x-rays and an exam. This does not typically include treatment for the emergency. Some dentists will offer a free consultation, although the treatment will never be free. Our office provides emergency dental exams for only $100.

  • What is an emergency dental evaluation?

The emergency dentist will evaluate the emergency or tooth and let you know what the treatment is, as well as discuss prices and financing options prior to performing any procedures. If you're having a dental emergency during normal business hours, all of the above may be true. But if you're having an emergency outside of normal business hours, the price may be expensive and it may be difficult to find an emergency dentist. We will perform an emergency dental exam for only $100!

  • What are some common signs I need to go to the dentist?

    • Swelling in the face is a severe dental emergency.
    • A cracked tooth can leave your roots exposed to bacteria.
    • Being in any trauma can lead to dental health risks later on.
    • An abscess is a dental emergency that you can’t wait to take care of.
  • Can I make a visit without insurance?

Yes, feel free to visit our office anytime without insurance.
